Speaker 0 00:01:08 Welcome to the Guide Within podcast. This episode is on stillness or how to cultivate stillness. There are many benefits to learning to become very still within ourselves. Becoming still opens up our perceptions to become aware of the septal energies, sounds, vibrations and senses that fill the peacefulness we create within our inner silence. It's an opportunity to recharge ourselves as well as our bodies drop into a calmness that is revitalizing. Cultivating stillness is like learning a particular skill. It may come easily to some and not so much for others. There are ways we can become more readily available to becoming still even if it is not our norm. Learning to become still and quiet within ourselves takes a little preparation and a good amount of patience and focus. Like any skill we wish to master, we must dedicate ourselves to a little practice. Anything that we attempt without some practice will not be as successful as having applied ourselves with a little diligence.
Speaker 0 00:02:20 Learning to become still means coming into a space of calmness both within our minds and our bodies, and it can be achieved by everyone. There are many ways we can subdue the body to achieve a level of stillness or at least sedation that can equally release our minds into a kind of reprieve. This form of using the body to gain a sense of release can be harmful to our productive mental activities and our physical health. It may accomplish releasing momentary tension and distract us from stressors, but it will not refresh or rejuvenate us as silence that is gained from inner tranquility. The body and the mind are intricately supportive of one another. When understood, we can use one to easily influence the other for mutual benefit and hence wellness. Recognizing the mind body connection teaches us to discover greater insights about ourselves. This is the connection that reveals our totality within the moment reflecting our wholeness. When we pay attention to the septal cues given to us by our bodies, we can enhance our experience of mental silence. The focus one pointed mind that can scan the body for awareness of information such as aches, pains, sensations, warmth, tension. All of this can become a silent witness within the process and while the mind scans the body, it has the power to influence the body to enter a state of calm and through it use the focus thoughts and imagery to heal.
Speaker 0 00:04:01 We can lead our minds into quiet reflection, through reading and contemplation of inspirational verses. This poem that I will read to you now is an example of such writing. It can help us to instill the confidence within ourselves to become still from a spiritual understanding of ourselves. It is not limited to a specific religious understanding, but rather an understanding as a form of divinity within our reach, in the form of silence, be still and no by Alan Elvin in the still and limpid pool of God-like knowing I bathed and cleansed of turbulence and fear, I stepped forth healed. The healing came when deep in wrapped communion. I saw that God in unin invaded n dwells, no self will drive exists in him. No jarring headlong rush, only the boundless healing quiet of reality. Oh, restless one, dwell only in this tranquil moment, immerse yourself in holy peace, sink deep in it. C, unlabored being holding you and all within the warmth and rest of its embrace you too will come forth healed.
Speaker 0 00:05:44 Within the stillness, we can find ourselves floating into a deep abyss of tranquility and rejuvenation. At this level of relaxation, we have the ability to stimulate our creative mind by allowing our minds to rest in a vibrational field that facilitates creativity and intuition. We may find that during these deep relaxed states of consciousness that visual cues may arrive similar to dream imagery. The mind may present images, memories, stories, and perhaps even undefined symbolism that seems not completely clear. This is the mind releasing as it goes into a deeper level of awareness. Some individuals may find that the imagery provides insight to greater forms of peacefulness within themselves. Each moment that we give to ourselves filled with compassion and an awareness to care for ourselves is a rewarding experience. We can transform and become many things in the silent space of letting go into this higher power within ourselves, releasing us in faith, knowing it is taken care of and the best way possible.
Speaker 0 00:07:00 Sitting in the trusting faith of stillness quietly knowing all is well. As we sit in this stillness, we can feel an inner reminder that fills us with a sense of faith, not a faith that's based on teachings to believe, but an experiential force that witnesses the truth of who we are. In the stillness, in the stillness of ourselves, our power is revealed, resilient, graceful, and infinite. We become aware of a hidden truth that lifts us up from our smallness to peak at our glory, an amazing, brilliant source of inner peace. The gifts that are brought forth from this inner storehouse are limitless, witnessing all and offering it back.
Speaker 0 00:07:52 Another thing occurs when we cultivate stillness. We become patient, we become better listeners. When we have cultivated a measure of stillness within ourselves, we become a calming force in the lives of everyone we know and everyone we meet. The quality of our practice becomes a physical sensation that is carried along with us and it is felt in a genuinely beneficial way by others. In fact, when we cultivate an inner stillness and we sit with someone else, we help to anchor them in the practice and make it easier to for them to achieve stillness as well. Our vibrational fields are sensitive and reflect shifts brought on by outside stimulus within our environment or other people.
Speaker 0 00:08:42 We can use this outside stimulus to also help us enter into stillness within ourselves. We can shift our consciousness into stillness by using vibrational tones such as singing bowls, tamboras, shamonic, drumming, drone sounds, and so Fiji tones. By listening to these different frequencies, we influence our brain waves to match the vibrational sounds affecting brain activity to enter into a calm state of awareness. These vibrational sounds that we use can also take us beyond stillness, entering into alternative states of consciousness. Similar to trance through shamonic sound vibrations, it's best to listen to these sounds while seated with eyes closed. Simply closing the eyes will begin to signal the mind to enter into a quiet place of inner reflection. Cultivating stillness is beneficial. It allows us to restore ourselves. Finding a depth within us to replenish. It also restores our mental acuity, providing an oasis of retreat to become centered in ourselves.
Speaker 0 00:09:56 We can close our eyes and become quiet, reclaiming our stillness and tapping into that inner power. Whenever we feel the need, stillness is a reward in itself and it is always there waiting for us to claim. Thank you for listening, and may you find the inner silence and peace that you deserve with each breath. With each exhale, say, I am at peace, and that'll bring you into a state of relaxed tranquility. Our inner stillness is a gift both to ourselves and to others. May it be one that you give yourself this season and every day. Namaste. Thank you for listening to the Guide Within podcast. I'm your host, Dr. Jacqueline. Senator.
